Horizon Wind Energy Signs Power Purchase Agreement with PG
Horizon Wind Energy, LLC, a leading wind project developer, owner and operator, owned by EDP Renováveis, has just entered into a long-term agreement with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) to sell renewable wind energy. Horizon Wind’s Rattlesnake Road Wind Power Project will have an installed capacity of 102.9 megawatts (MW) of renewable wind energy.
“We applaud PG&E for taking the initiative to supply their customers with pollution-free, wind energy,” said Antonio Martins da Costa, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Wind Energy. “Horizon values long term agreements with our customers and we look forward to working with PG&E, one of the largest natural gas and electric utilities in the United States, for years to come.”
Located in Gilliam County, Oregon, Rattlesnake Road Wind Farm will deliver 240 gigawatt hours (GWh) of clean electricity annually. The project is currently under construction and is expected to start producing clean, renewable energy late 2008.
“Clean wind power is an integral part of our diverse renewable energy portfolio, which includes hydroelectric, geothermal, solar, wave and biomass resources,” said Fong Wan, Vice President of Energy Procurement for PG&E. “Renewable resources continue to play a critical role in our commitment to provide our customers with reliable, clean, environmentally preferred energy.”
