EDP Renewables signs agreement with Industrias Peñoles mining company during Mexican trade event in Lisbon

EDP Renewables took part in the “Mexico-Portugal Business Opportunities” event in Lisbon, which brought together business leaders from both countries to strengthen the business ties between Mexico and Portugal.
During the event, EDPR officially signed an agreement with Industrias Peñoles, an important Mexican mining company. Through a self-supply regime, Industrias Peñoles will use the power supply obtained from the output of an EDPR wind farm, which currently has 180 MW in installed capacity. The project is expected to be deployed by 2016.

The signing event took place on June 6th, in Lisbon, and was attended by company representatives João Manso Neto, Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of EDP Renewables and Sergio Fernando Alanís Ortega, CEO of Industrias Peñoles.
It marks just one of the successes of the Business Opportunities event, which helped strengthed business ties between the two nations. The event was hosted by the President of the Portuguese Republic, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, and the President of the United States of Mexico, Enrique Peña Nieto.

Industrias Peñoles visits EDPR
EDP Renewables opened the doors of its Serra del Rey wind farm to Fernando Alanís, CEO of Industrias Peñoles, with the aim of giving him an up-close view of how a wind energy is generated.
With João Manso Neto and EDPR’s Portuguese Promotion team at his side, Alanís also had the opportunity to see a brief presentation about EDPR’s presence in the Portuguese market. The group also visited EDP’s Electricity Museum in Lisbon, where Fernando Alanís could imagine how power plants operated in decades past.
