Learn about our presence in this market and how we are contributing to accelerate the much needed energy transition.

We are one of the global leaders in the use of wind and solar energy. We entered the Polish market in 2008 and in terms of investments made so far, we are the largest foreign investor in the renewable energy sources (RES) sector in Poland. We have been actively supporting the green transformation of the Polish economy for more than 15 years.

Our business

EDPR is one of the pioneers and leaders of the RES sector in Poland. To date, we have built close to 1.2 GW of green capacity in the country, of which about 0.9 GW in onshore wind farms and about 0.3 GW in large-scale photovoltaic farms. Our portfolio of new projects amounts to several GW and includes wind, solar and storage projects, as well as hybrid projects combining the above technologies. Through its OW company, in which EDPR owns 50%, EDPR is also involved in the development of offshore wind energy in Poland.

Onshore

Under Polish conditions, onshore wind farms are the RES technology with the lowest total cost of electricity generation. To date, EDPR has built wind farms in Poland with a capacity of nearly 0.9 GW - the most of any investor in the Polish market. We sold some of our domestic wind assets under the Asset Rotation programme to raise capital to develop new investments. We currently have a portfolio of operational wind assets with a total capacity of 567 MW and are actively developing new projects. We are open to different models of cooperation with both other developers and final energy consumers.

Solar

Poland has been on the European podium in terms of the growth of installed PV capacity for several years. In 2023, EDPR commissioned PV farms in Poland with a total capacity of 0.3 GW, becoming one of the leaders of this market segment in Poland.
