This past November 12^th the EDP Foundation signed a collaboration agreement with SEUR Foundation to join the campaign ‘Caps for a new life'.

This agreement seeks the joint execution of cooperation activities between the two entities through volunteering and awareness-raising campaigns addressed to employees. On this occasion, the social undertaking focuses on the disadvantaged young, who are unable to gain access to certain medical treatment that is not currently provided by the health system, with the purpose of improving their quality of life.

To this end, the EDP Foundation has taken on the commitment to install a number of collection points at EDP Renováveis and EDP Spain offices in Spain to allow employees to deposit plastic bottle caps in dedicated containers prepared for this purpose.

Specifically, EDPR offices will have available a total of 13 containers for recycling plastic caps, in addition to another 8 that will be installed in EDP Spain offices in the building located on La Gesta de Oviedo square. These will be joining the campaign and will replace the existing glass collection containers, which will now be re-used for collecting plastic caps.

The ‘Caps for a new life' project was born in 2011 and has helped 106 youngsters to date, by collecting over 810,000 € resulting from the recycling of 3,576 tons of plastic caps, or an equivalent of 1,700 million units.

In addition to its social character, this collaboration initiative seeks to support the environmental benefits resulting from the recycling of plastic, which have contributed to the avoidance of up to 5,000 Tm of CO₂ emissions, which is the main cause of climate change.
