The lesser kestrel (Falco naumanni) is a small bird of prey belonging to the hawk family that is often linked to urban and human settings.

The main threat for this species is the loss of its habitat. Factors such as the intensification of agricultural activities, crops changes, the abandonment of land or the development of peri-urban areas are very negative for this insect-eating bird of prey.

With the purpose of improving the number of nesting sites of the lesser kestrel, in 2010 EDPR began to work on the installation of nest boxes and tile-nests as well as in the restoration of voids in buildings in the vicinity of the Garcimuñoz wind farm, which is located in the province of Cuenca (Spain).
This measure not only seeks to promote the conservation of this species but also favour the preservation of the historical heritage, as part of the nests were placed in the historical Monastery of Uclés, which was declared Site of Cultural Interest in 1931.
