EDPR NA Donates School Supplies to Deserving Students

For the past five years, EDPR NA has donated school supplies and backpacks to the Houston Children's Charity.

YES Prep is an open-enrollment public charter school system serving students grades six through 12 in Houston's most disadvantaged communities. For more than 15 years, YES Prep Public Schools has redefined what is possible in public education. With 9,000 college-bound students across 13 campuses, they are a system of high-performing public charter schools proving that students from low-income communities can achieve at the highest academic levels.

This year, with EDPR NA employees' help and generosity, the company donated $2,000 toward school supplies and backpacks for the YES Prep students. EDPR NA Volunteer Committee Co-Chairpersons Claudia Zepeda and Kim Mitchell purchased the school supplies and delivered it to a group of very polite, grateful, and deserving students.

"We all met in the school theatre, and it was a surprise to the students as to what they were there for," Zepeda said. "The looks on their faces when they received their new back-to-school items was priceless and very touching."

Even without EDPR NA's donation commitment this year to the Houston Children's Charity, the organization was able to obtain another school supply donator. They did, however, still ask for EDPR NA's help in distributing the supplies to the families on pick-up day, which was held on Saturday, August 15.

Photos of the school supply shopping and both supply distributions are enclosed. Thank you to all employees who donated to a great cause!
