EDPR collaborates in the prevention of forest fires in the area of the Sierra del Boquerón wind farm

Spain is one of the European countries with most forest fires. Taking preventive measures is key to prevent them, especially when taking into account that the impact of forest fires is expected to increase in the coming years as a result of climate change, both in terms of intensity and duration.

Aware of this problematic, EDPR has been collaborating since 2013 with the Castilla La Mancha Communities Council in the prevention of forest fires in the vicinity of the Sierra del Boquerón wind farm (Albacete).

The works that were performed together with forest rangers consisted in improving the conditions of forest firebreaks located near the wind farm.

Preventive measures against firefighting are always fundamental, but they take on special relevance in the vicinity of the Sierra del Boquerón wind farm, since it is located in the vicinity Hoces del Júcar natural protected area, which is included in the Natura 2000 Network.
