EDP Renováveis consortium is awarded with 1,000 MW of wind offshore capacity in France

EDP Renováveis, S.A. ("EDPR") is pleased to announce that the partnership created with GDF Suez, S.A. ("GDF Suez") and Neoen Marine, in which EDPR holds a non-controlling shareholding position, was selected by the French Government for the development, construction and operation of the offshore wind farms in the areas of Haute-Normandie (500 MW) and of Pays de la Loire (500 MW).

The complementary expertise of the partners in the development of high quality projects improved their proposal competitiveness, while maintaining the most strict sustainability requirements and an appropriate dialogue with local stakeholders.

The partnership will use a new 8 MW Areva turbine will maximize the site production, while reducing the number of turbines and the time of construction. The partnership will now continue engaging with all interest parties, and developing all the technical, economic and environmental studies. Upon successful completion of the development phase, and the selection of all the partners and suppliers for the different stages of construction and operation, the partnership will move forward beginning construction of the offshore wind farm projects, which is expected to take place between 2019 and 2021.

With this new partnership, and the successful bid in the French tender, EDPR increases its growth options to the wind offshore in a very attractive market, thereby enlarging and diversifying the company's long term profitable growth options maintaining a balanced risk profile.
