Madrid, 15 June 2018: EDP Renewables (EDP Renewables, Euronext: EDPR), a global leader in the renewable energy sector and one of the world's largest wind energy producers, held an open day today at the Carondio Wind Farm in Allande in the province of Asturias to celebrate Global Wind Day.

EDPR was joined at the event by representatives from various local authorities, such as the Director General of Energy and Mines in the regional government, María Belarmina Díaz Aguado, and local Mayor José Antonio Mesa Pieiga.

Local schoolchildren and families took part in various activities over the course of the day aimed at explaining the benefits of wind energy. The children took part in a drawing contest and had fun playing badminton. They also enjoyed a wind-themed magic show, which underscored the importance of wind power as a renewable energy source.

EDP Renewables CEO João Manso Neto said: “Global Wind Day is a key event in EDP Renewables’ calendar as it allows us to showcase wind power to the public. It’s a wonderful occasion to explain how a wind farm works and its benefits for society as a whole”.
