Solar energy is one of the cleanest and most abundant renewable energy sources available. Solar power plants, along with other sources of renewable energy such as wind power, do not produce toxic emissions like mercury, smog-forming chemicals, particulate matter, or greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide, NOX and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Utility-scale solar has been generating reliable, clean energy for more than two decades.

In order to take advantage of this profitable renewable technology and considering its increasing competitiveness, EDPR has been developing efforts to growth in solar PV technology. The US is the core market for this growth, where the technology is boosted by the Investment Tax Credit scheme, while opportunities are also being screened in Europe, Brazil and Mexico.
