EDPR hosts student visits to wind farms across Poland

The first visit took place at Margonin Wind Farm in September. As a prize for the winners of a contest that took place during the EDPR science picnic for children and adults earlier the same month, a group of students from a primary school in Chodzież had the opportunity to go on a wind farm tour. The children had many questions answered about the wind farm and renewable energy sources, and EDPR encouraged this curiosity about renewables among the town’s youngest residents.

Also in September, EDPR hosted a group of renewable energy science students from Warmińsko Mazurski University at the Korsze Wind Farm on September 29. The students had the opportunity to visit both the power station and one of the wind farm’s turbines. As part of the visit, an EDPR representative also spoke with the students about the technical and political issues surrounding wind energy in Poland.  Given the success of the visit, the Korsze Wind Farm and Warmińsko Mazurski University are entering into a partnership that will be extended into 2017.

In October, a group of teenagers from a high school in Lodz visited EDPR’s wind farm in Radziejów. During their visit, the 32 students attended special sessions about wind farm operations, alternative energy sources and renewable energy acquisition methods and their environmental impact.

These events are part of our ongoing commitment to connecting and engaging with the communities where we operate.
