Once a year, a large number of volunteers gather along the Texas waterways to do their part in cleaning up the environment by participating in the largest statewide event to educate the public about the importance of our water resources.

A total of 11 EDPR NA employees, friends, and family attended this annual event, the Buffalo Bayou Partnership Trash Bash, and collected trash along Japhet Creek in Houston, Texas.

Japhet Creek has undergone tremendous changes in the last few years, and thanks to events such as the Trash Bash, the creek has once again become a pristine, native environment and home to migrating songbirds, aquatic turtles, swamp rabbits, and a pair of red-tailed hawks that nest nearby.

The Buffalo Bayou Partnership reported that around 250 total people volunteered their time and collected more than 300 bags of trash at this event.

Created in 1986, the Buffalo Bayou Partnership is a coalition of civic, environmental, governmental, and business representatives whose director nominees are confirmed by the Mayor of Houston and Harris County Judge. The 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation is transforming and revitalizing Buffalo Bayou, Houston's greatest natural resource.
