Houston Employees "Plant It Forward"

The Volunteer Committee recently hosted an event at Plant it Forward in Houston.

Plant It Forward is a local organization that employs refugees, giving them the opportunity to become self-sustaining, through growing, harvesting, and selling produce from a sustainable urban farm. On Thursday, June 30, a group of EDPR NA employees braved the heat and assisted Plant It Forward with applying organic weed control and building a composting area at one of their farms.

"We had a great day volunteering at Plant It Forward," said Kimberly Mitchell (Volunteer Committee Co-Chairperson and Executive Assistant, Technical). "I appreciate all of my coworkers who came out and contributed to this amazing organization."

The Volunteer Committee is already onto its next initiative - collecting gently used books for the Texas Children's Hospital, Reading Aces, and the Houston Center for Literacy. For those in the Houston office, please drop off donations on the bookshelf in the 7th floor lobby. If you prefer to contribute a cash donation, please contact the Volunteer Committee Chairpersons: Kimberly Mitchell and Claudia Zepeda.
