EDP Renewables North America Achieves Milestone in PPA Procurement Across the United States
EDP Renewables surpassed the landmark of 15 GW of contracted capacity in PPAs globally as North America leads growth.
Houston, Texas, March 31, 2025 – In preparation for tomorrow’s announcement of the launch of its newest project in Indiana associated with a notable technology customer, EDP Renewables North America LLC (EDPR NA) highlights that it has achieved a key power purchase agreement (PPA) milestone to date in the United States. EDP Renewables has reached 15 GWp globally of contracted PPAs from some of the world’s largest companies. EDPR NA played a large contributing factor in this success, executing 11 GW of the 15 GW globally signed PPAs. Power and utilities, data centers, wholesale and retail, electricity, gas, steam, and manufacturing are amongst the top five sectors leading EDP’s global corporate and utility customer PPAs.
45% of the power associated with new PPAs signed in 2024 will support data centers globally. In North America specifically, EDPR NA was especially effective in supporting clean energy growth for the technology sector, executing PPAs for Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, and others the last few years.
Notable projects launched by EDPR NA over the past year in collaboration with the technology and corporate and industrial (C&I) sectors included:
Scarlet I Solar Energy Park
EDPR NA unveiled its 200-MW Scarlet I Solar Energy Park in Fresno County, California. This project executed two PPAs with Ava Community Energy for 100 MW of solar and 30 MW of BESS and with San José Clean Energy (SJCE) for 100 MW of solar and 10 MW of BESS.
Ragsdale Solar Park
EDPR NA launched the 100-MW Ragsdale Solar Park in Canton, Mississippi, by executing a PPA with Amazon for 100% of the power produced by the project.
Brittlebush Solar Park
EDPR NA completed the 200-MW Brittlebush Solar Park near Coolidge, Arizona, with PPAs for the Salt River Project (SRP) and Meta. The project’s total capacity is dedicated to supporting Meta’s data center in Mesa, Arizona.
Hickory, Wolf Run, and Cattlemen II Solar Projects
EDPR NA completed three utility-scale solar projects totaling 400 MW: the 140-MW Wolf Run Solar Project near Jacksonville, Illinois, the 110-MW Hickory Solar Project near Jerseyville, Illinois, and the 150-MW Cattlemen II Solar Project near Austin, Texas. Microsoft agreed to purchase 389 MW of electricity from these three projects.
Sandrini I & II Solar Parks
EDPR NA completed the Sandrini I & II Solar Parks in Kern County, California. Sandrini I has a 15-year PPA with Shell Energy North America (SENA) while Sandrini II has a 15-year PPA with Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA).
