EDPR Sunseap forms high-powered Advisory Board led by Mr Robert Yap

EDPR Sunseap, the Asia Pacific hub of EDP Renewables, has set up an Advisory Board to provide strategic guidance to management as it accelerates its expansion across the region.

The Advisory Board, comprising four prominent individuals, is separate from the Board of Directors whose role includes oversight of the company and ensuring compliance with EDPR policies.

Mr Robert Yap, who is concurrently an Independent Director on EDPR Sunseap’s Board of Directors, chairs the Advisory Board. He was formerly Non-Executive Chairman of Sunseap Group for around 7 years and is currently Chairman of Skylab Holding, a technology company, and an Independent Director of NTUC FairPrice Group, Jurong Port, IMDA Singapore and Alexandra Health Fund. He is also a member of the Corporate Governance Advisory Committee, MAS and Council for Board Diversity of Singapore.

The other three members are:

  • Mr Bobby Chin Yoke Choong, who is the Chairman of the Housing & Development Board and Corporate Governance Advisory Committee. He is also a director of several listed companies including AV Jennings Limited, Ho Bee Land Limited and Frasers Property Limited. Mr Chin also serves on the Board of Temasek Holdings and Singapore Labour Foundation. After stepping down as Chairman of NTUC FairPrice Co-Operative Ltd, Mr Chin continues to serve as a senior advisor.
  • Mr Tan Sri Albert Cheng, who is currently on the Board of NTUC FairPrice Co-Operative Ltd. He was the Managing Director of Lion Industries Corporation Berhad until June 2022. Tan Sri Cheng has more than 40 years of experience with the Lion Group, a Malaysian-based multinational with operations in China, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and the USA. He was Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce Malaysia from 2014 to June 2018 and is currently its Vice Chairman.
  • Ms Tan Lee Chew, who is President of ST Engineering’s commercial businesses and a member of its Group Executive Committee. Ms Tan was formerly Managing Director of Worldwide Public Sector (ASEAN), at Amazon Web Services (AWS). She currently serves on the Board of the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore and is appointed as the President for the Women in Tech Chapter at the Singapore Computer Society.

EDPR Sunseap Executive Chairman Mr Pedro Vasconcelos, who is also EDPR’s APAC Chief Operating Officer, said: “I am honoured that Robert, Bobby, Albert and Lee Chew have agreed to sit on our new Advisory Board. Their wealth of experience and contacts will be invaluable to management and will help us grow our business and lead the energy transition in the Asia Pacific.”
