EDP and EDP Renewables (EDPR) have once again been recognized for their good practices in terms of inclusion and equal professional opportunities between men and women, having been included in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index 2023 (GEI). This global benchmark index measures gender equality across five pillars: leadership and talent development, equal pay and gender pay parity, inclusive culture, anti-sexual harassment policies and brand image.

As Miguel Stilwell d'Andrade, CEO of EDP and EDP Renewables, states, "People are the power of our company and their development and well-being are key priorities in our strategy. We continuously work to promote diversity, equity and inclusion at EDP and to contribute to a fair and open-minded society".

EDP's Plan for Gender Equality 2022-2023 aims to increase the number of women in its workforce, with a global target of 30% by 2025. In addition to promoting greater female participation in the company and in management positions, the EDP group has encouraged the recruitment of more women for technical positions, both in middle and senior positions in all its locations.

With this in mind, the company has launched an awareness campaign to encourage more women to opt for careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) under the slogan #RebelsForChange.

Indeed, among the global results of this year's GEI, it is noteworthy that more and more companies are strengthening their commitment to providing an inclusive work environment as the nature of work continues to evolve: in fact, 74% of the companies included in the global index sponsor programs dedicated to educating women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

The GEI 2023 has analyzed 485 companies from 11 business sectors representing 45 countries and regions around the world. This year, companies based in Luxembourg, Ecuador and Kuwait were included for the first time.
