Twenty volunteers from EDPR NA's Houston office spent a portion of their Thanksgiving Day volunteering for Operation Turkey, a nonprofit organization that provides Thanksgiving meals to homeless and deserving individuals.

Operation Turkey volunteers spent the first part of the day putting together complete Thanksgiving meals in to-go containers. After the meals were assembled, the volunteers distributed them to recipients throughout Houston. The EDPR team decided to focus on the downtown area, where the Houston office is located, since employees see the need for it every day when they come to work.

While they were distributing the meals, the EDPR team encountered a group of very welcoming homeless adults, children, veterans, and families in need of a hot meal. The recipients of the meals were very grateful for the food, and one individual even sang the group a Christmas song to show his appreciation.

This year's Operation Turkey event in Houston produced 856 meals for distribution, and EDPR volunteers thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Claudia Zepeda, Operations Coordinator and Volunteer Committee co-chair, organized EDPR's participation in the event.

"Participating in Operation Turkey was a heartwarming experience that none of us will soon forget. I personally went home to have my own Thanksgiving meal with my family and felt more thankful than I had in years past," said Zepeda.
