EDPR voluntarily promotes and supports social, cultural, environmental and educational initiatives with the purpose of contributing to the sustainable development of its business and in order to uphold its strategic vision.
Engaging with our communities
To maintain strong and positive long-term relationships with local communities, EDPR organizes several events and activities to involve and engage all of the people living in the areas surrounding our wind farms.
The main projects are:
Closer2You is an initiative that aims to improve the quality of life of the people who live in areas near our wind farms. This project is intended for families in difficult economic circumstances, and who need improvements to be made to their homes.
EDPR Rural, a program that provides family farmers with individualized technical and management counseling on courses and markets, as well as on developing production and strengthening associations.
Wind Leagues, through sponsoring regional little leagues or improving sports infrastructures, this program aims to support healthy lifestyles, teamwork and leadership skills among youth within the communities near our wind farms.
Educating future generations
We believe there is no better way to think of the future than to support the education and training of generations to come.
That’s why we develop projects like:
- University Challenge, a project that aims to promote the education, creativity and development of university students;
- Your Energy, an international program that helps children discover the world of renewable energies;
- Green Education, an international project to support the education of children and teenagers of families with limited resources;
- Wind Experts, an online competition in Spain that aims to increase the knowledge of kids about wind energy as well as to stimulate creativity
We also promote and support different volunteering initiatives in all the countries where we operate. EDPR’s employees take part actively in environmental, cultural and educational volunteering initiatives.
