Principles of sustainable development
The immense and multiple challenges we face require a demanding corporate policy. These are the mainstays of our work.
EDPR, as a renewable energy company, creates great demand in its stakeholders about Sustainability. Responding to these expectations, EDPR has been committed to the UN Global Compact corporate responsibility initiative and its principles since 2012. By incorporating the principles of the Global Compact into its strategy, policies and procedures, and establishing a culture of integrity, EDPR not only defends its basic responsibilities with people and the planet, but also sets the stage for long-term success. Following this long-term commitment, 10 Sustainability goals were defined within the 2016-2020 Business Plan, framed by eight of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals.
Sustainable Development Goals
In 2015, world leaders agreed to 17 goals for a better world by 2030. These goals have the power to end poverty, fight inequality, and stop climate change (source: globalgoals.org). The EDP Group will direct its contributions to eight of the 17 Sustainable Development Objectives. Read more about the EDP Group’s commitment here.
Sustainability External Indexes
EDPR participates every year in different Sustainability assessments, directly or through EDP, achieving leadership positions in some Sustainability Indexes
The rank achieved in these and other indexes is the result of company evaluations that follow different methodologies: from Best in Class, ESG Criteria to exclusion Criteria.
